Trailhead Learnings – Points to Remember from ‘Simplify Home Security Subscription Renewals’ CPQ Trail

‘Simplify Home Security Subscription Renewals’ Trailhead

-Asset Conversion field with ‘One per unit’ picklist value- means a Quote Line with a Quantity of 5 gets 5 separate Asset records.

-Asset Conversion field with value ‘None’ picklist value- means the Product will be missing from this list because we set up the product for no asset conversion.

-In Salesforce CPQ, a Contract can be generated for subscription products by selecting the “Contracted” checkbox on either the Opportunity record or on an Order record.

-To create a Contract from an Opportunity, select Contracted on your Opportunity record. The contract inherits its start and end dates from your Primary Quote’s start and end dates.

-Even if an order has no items that would create or affect any contracts, you still use the Contracted field to tell Salesforce CPQ to generate assets.

-Renewal Forecast checkbox on contract – This is the key field that tells Salesforce CPQ to generate a renewal opportunity.

-Checking the Renewal Forecast on the contract will help forecast the revenue that can be generated on the contract being renewed

-If we update the existing contract with a new subscription record to represent the increase in quantity. Salesforce CPQ does NOT create a new contract; instead, it keeps all subscriptions organized under the original.

-Check the Renewal Quoted checkbox on the contract -This is what tells CPQ to make a renewal quote alongside the renewal opportunity.

-Quote to Cash Process

Lead → Qualify → Create opportunity → Generate & present quote(s)
→ Opportunity Closed-Won → Create an order → Start order processing
